Project Second Act™ was created by a few dedicated volunteers in Chicago committed to advancing the economic success of women over 40. It was launched as a pilot project in 2007 in collaboration with U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau, The Transition Network and National-Louis University.

The volunteer leadership team that originated the project includes Mrs. Mary Baim, Ms. Nancy Chen, Ms. Terry Kozlowski and Dr .Maria Malayter. For further information on Project Second Act, contact Terry Kozlowski, Project Director at 800.401.0607 x2229 or through the Contact Us link.

As word on the Project has spread, primarily through women sharing with their friends, we continue to receive offers of assistance and new volunteers from additional organizations and women across metropolitan Chicago. We have also received requests for information on how to bring Project Second Act into other cities across the country.

The Transition Network, (TTN) has 501(c)3 status and is a vibrant national community of more than 2500 women. Their mission is to provide a network of resources and support for women over 50 as they explore and experience transitions in their personal and professional lives and to demonstrate that as they age, they are increasingly more valuable as assets to this society. The Chicago Chapter offers monthly programs and serves as a local resource.

The Center for Positive Aging goal is to support the community, workforce and academy in responding to the needs of the aging population. The center offers lifelong learning programs, aging creatively seminars, intergenerational mentoring, and academic training for professionals in health careers, business, and counseling to understand and include older persons as a vital part of society. Our Center model is unique in that it holds an academic foundation with extensive business and community partners.
